Stretch Stabilize Restore Workshop

Take a moment to treat yourself to a stress-relieving class that will leave your muscles feeling long and your joints happy and stable. In a warm, candle-lit studio, we’ll begin with some relaxation techniques with breath and then we’ll move on to tension-relieving gentle movement for the neck, shoulders, low back and hips. Once we’re warm and moving, we’ll practice a few Pilates and yoga-based exercises to work on hip & shoulder stabilization and spine mobilization and finally end with some deep stretches for the back, hips and hamstrings. All levels and abilities welcome.

Get your groove on this January with some shimmies! This class will begin with a strength & flexibility conditioning workout on the mat and then will move on to some basic bellydance technique. Learn how to isolate different parts of the body with head slides, shoulder shimmies, chest circles, belly rolls, body waves and lot and lots of hip movement!! As we work through the basics, we’ll talk about some basic anatomy as it applies to our movement to inform you about your body and how it works. As class progresses, we’ll learn a few easy-to-follow dance combos to get you dancing away into your Sunday. All levels welcome and very beginner friendly!! Come and try something new and bring a friend to laugh with. Arm yourself with a bottle of water, bare feet or dance slippers, and a hip scarf if you’ve got one. Let’s dance!!!

This workshop will guide the instructor through the unique and valuable applications available for the athlete directly related to the Pilates method. Challenging muscle groups with precision of movement in strength, flexibility and endurance, will provide the necessary tools to structure demanding, yet well rounded sessions, for the professional (or weekend) athlete in your studio.

Pilates for Injuries & Pathologies

Pilates for Injuries & Pathologies

This three-day, advanced education certificate course presents a Physical Therapy approach to working with clients who have injuries, physical limitations, or movement dysfunctions. Specific injuries and pathologies are examined and students learn about precautions and/or contraindications for these conditions, as well as exercise options and modifications to the original BASI Pilates repertoire. Course participants learn safe ways to work with clients who suffer from some of the most commonly encountered pathologies and injuries. Course manual is included and participants receive a certificate of completion.

This course is approved for 18 CECs by the PMA.

You do not have to be a member of the Studio to attend a workshop (unless it is specifically stated to be at an Intermediate or Advanced level) and we welcome new faces to come check us out!

If this will be your first visit to Studio Blue, please plan to be here 10 minutes prior to the start of your workshop to fill out a New Client Registration form. Wear comfortable, form fitting clothing that allows good freedom of movement.  We are a barefoot studio, so no special footwear is required. We provide several different types of mats (free of charge), but if you prefer to bring your own mat, that’s okay too!  We are located at 512 NW 17th Avenue (between Glisan and Hoyt) and there is free on-street parking all around our building.

All workshops can be conveniently paid for with Visa or Mastercard online when you enroll and must be paid in full 48-hours prior to the day of the workshop. Studio Blue reserves the right to cancel any workshops that do not meet the minimum attendance requirement 48 hours prior to the start of the workshop and all prepaid workshop payments will be refunded in full if this occurs. Please allow 24-48 hours for credit card refunds to be processed to your credit card.

Please note that all workshops will start promptly at their appointed time and we cannot allow anyone to enter the classroom 10 minutes or more after the workshop has begun.  Thank you!
