In this workshop Melissa will address neck and back pain by way of both physical therapy practices and Pilates core work. The goals of this workshop are to restore structural alignment of the spine, increase tone in the pelvic floor and core musculature, and decrease overall back pain and discomfort. You will focus on gentle cervical range of motion and upper back exercises to decrease pain and hyperactivity of musculature around the neck and shoulder girdle; increase thoracic range of motion and decrease stiffness through the upper back using simple mobility exercises; and develop support for the low back by focusing on rebuilding the core from the pelvic floor and deep abdominals. You will also be given a “grab bag” of exercises for daily use to help maintain spine health on a whole.
